The Guarding Division is a highly motivated team of workers, each team member, having been chosen for their dedication, commitment and loyalty. Dunmar operates a full supervisory team on a 24-hour basis in the Business District of broader Johannesburg in particular, but also across other regions in the Gauteng Province. This will soon be extending to other regions as well. All staff are registered and trained as per the Security Act to ensure effective and efficient service. Our personnel are required to undergo polygraph testing at intervals. This ensures their integrity to our clients. All staff are registered in accordance with the requirements of PSIRA, the Public Security Industry Regulatory Authority. Staff are also exposed to ongoing training from an outside registered training academy.
The following basic management support is provided to our clients:
- Site visits by Dunmar management
- At least 1 structured client visit per week
- Immediate reaction to client queries and requests
- The provision of a 24-hour contact number, allowing clients to contact us 24/7
The Directors and Senior Management of Dunmar fulfill the functions of Operation Managers, each controlling their own team of supervisory staff, namely Duty Officers. The supervising of premises requires a minimum of one visit with a 24-hour period. These visits are recorded in on-site occurrence registers, detailing the time of the visit, comments made, and if applicable, the corrective action taken. The Officer in Charge ensures that all personnel are properly attired, neatly dressed and adequately equipped during these site visits. Personnel are currently dropped off at their respective sites for guard duty on a daily basis. We have only set out the basic operations, but our clients are entitled to receive a complete set of operations for their specific requirements. The officers are provided with a Basic Job Description on employment for any specific site, but Dunmar encourage clients to provide their input in order for us ensure full co-operation from the officers.
ARMED RESPONSE AND TASK FORCE
Our armed response officers are chosen for their experience and capabilities. These officers are fully equipped and trained to handle any situation. The armed officers are pro-active and respond to alarm activations, panics received, and electric fencing activations which are monitored by our 24 hour control room. Dunmar provide dedicated vehicles in specific areas from where the armed response officers will respond at any given time.
The armed response officers also have the responsibility of:
- Carrying out patrols in dedicated areas
- Ensuring visibility for any would be perpetrator
- Ensuring peace of mind to our existing clients in that the vehicle regularly calls on our clients
- Leaving pc slips for clients to advise of the time and date theat they visited their property.
- Patrolling to inspect properties and to report back to the control room of any suspicious behaviour in their area
- Minimising the opportunity for would be perpetators to access property
- Investigating and reporting back on any attempted break-ins, etc.
- Providing an escort service, if necessary for our clients.
The armed response officers are also extensively utilised in the control of crime around the complexes that we are entrusted to secure the armed response officers are also widely utilised for special events, mob or crowd control. We are proud to have a dedicated team available to service our community.
With the increase in crime and the modus operandi of perpetrators, Dunmar Protection and Security found it necessary to implement a Task Force Team. The Task Force Team is a dedicated unit, determined to protect Dunmar Clients, their assets and belongings.
The control room is a key element in all our operations, is equipped with state of the art equipment and is manned 24/7 by qualified and fully trained personnel. The control room is utilised as a point of contact for clients, guarding division, the technicians and the armed response officers.
The control room computers monitor all client alarms/activations or calls received in the case of incidents. All panics from the security officers on site are received and managed by the control room. The Control Room operators maintain strict control over all communications in the control room. On the receipt of any calls, or activations, the Control Room Operator will immediately dispatch Armed Response Officers to investigate.
The control Room operator maintains contact with the Armed Response Officers at all times during their investigation and will ensure that back up is provided in need. Full reports from the Armed Response Officers are captured by the Control Room Operators for processing by the Operations Division. The control Room operator also has all contactable numbers in the case of emergencies and will automatically liaise with the Emergency Services, Fire Department or the South African Police Services in need, providing them with full details and addresses where necessary.
